Förvänta dig inte att någonsin få reda på sanningen om vad som egentligen hände i Göteborg de där dagarna under EU-toppmötet 2001. I Indymedias dokumentär "Så gör vi i Göteborg" får vi i alla fall se en annan sida av händelserna än den som hittills varit förhärskande i så kallad mainstream-media.
Nu finns film äntligen i högre kvalitet och i DVD-format - både för gratis nedladdning och som köp-skiva.

Med helt unika bilder får vi ta del av en mycket närgången skildring av de människor som med olika målsättningar samlats på Göteborgs gator. Indymedia hade ett tiotal kamerateam på plats mitt i folksamlingar, demonstrationer och kravaller. Med både värme, humor och en knivskarp träffsäkerhet kastas vi mellan de olika stämningar och känsloyttringar som skakade om Göteborg, ja kanske hela Sverige, de där dagarna i juni 2001.
Filmen heter "Så gör vi i Göteborg" efter den replik som en skojfrisk polisman yttrar i samband med mooningen mot Bush. Titeln anspelar också på polismästare Håkan Jaldungs yttrande under en presskonferens om insatsen på Schillerska gymnasiet då nationella insatsstyrkan, med dragna automatvapen, sent på kvällen stormade en skola där tillresta ungdomar låg och sov, tvingade dessa att i bara underkläderna lägga sig på den våta asfalten ute på skolgården under det att de verbalt och fysiskt, med grova rasitiska och sexistiska kommentarer, metodiskt förnedrade och kränkte ungdomarna: "Det var en ren rutinmanöver. Här i Göteborg gör vi tre till fyra sådana i veckan..."

This is how we do it in Gothenburg
 Don't expect to ever find out the truth about what really happened in Gothenburg during those days of the EU summit in June 2001. In the Indymedia documentary "This is how we do it in Gothenburg", we at least get another view of the events than the one that has been dominating the corporate media. With unique footage, we are shown an account of all the people with different goals that gathered in the streets of Gothenburg. Indymedia had more than ten different camera teams amidst crowds, demonstrations and riots. With warmth, humor and sharp accuracy we are thrown between the different moods and emotions that shook Gothenburg, and possibly the whole of Sweden, during those few days in June.
The documentary is named "This is how we do it in Gothenburg", after a comment from a funny policeman in connection with the mass mooning against George Bush. The title is also a sarcastic remark to the utterance of police commissioner Håkan Jaldung on a press conference about the police assault against the Schillerska school, when members of the Swedish police's anti terrorist squad late at Saturday night, equipped with drawn automatic weapons, stormed a building used by young demonstrators as sleeping facilities, under threats forced them down on the wet school yard in their underwear. There the youths received both verbal and physical abuse, ranging from racist and sexist remarks, to methodical humiliation and insults. Håkan Jaldung's comment was: "This was pure routine. Here in Gothenburg we do three to four operations like this every week..."
