We declare the building a Liberated Workers' Zone.

Lørdag aften, d. 6. december 2008, blev den 15-årige Alexandros Andreas Grigoropoulos (se billede) dræbt af en politibetjent på patrulje i Athens alternative kvarter Exarchia. En italiensk kvinde, som bor i Athen, var øjenvidne til hændelsen. Hun fortæller til indymedia-Roma, at det hele begyndte meget harmløst med, at en gruppe unge i god feststemning råbte efter en patruljevogn, da den kørte forbi. Én kastede en tom ølflaske i retning af bilen. Derefter standsede politibilen, en politimand sprang ud af bilen og affyrede ialt tre skud mod en af de unge i gruppen. Han døde kort tid efter. |

The Cyclops has been burnt down |

We just got word that the Cyclopen, the autonomous social center in southern Stockholm, today has been burnt to the ground. Firefighters tried to save the house but the roof collapsed and only the containers are still standing. The Cyclopen is still ablaze. |

More than a year after their homes were destroyed during the battle between the Lebanese army and the militant islamist group Fatah al-Islam, the majority of the refugees from Nahr al-Bared in North Lebanon find themselves in a difficult situation. Not able to return to their homes, stuck in pre-fabricated housing units and often unemployed, many of them feel frustrated and hopeless, only sometimes seeing a glimmer of hope. |
